In fact, loud noise is the one of the most common causes of hearing loss.<\/p>\n<p>We attended a seminar at the California Academy of Audiology convention regarding industrial hearing loss prevention programs. In the workplace there are established programs to help employees protect their hearing.<\/p>\n<p>However, outside of the workplace we are subjected to so much loud noise and often it is of our own choosing. Just because we like to go to the shooting range or use power tools or ride motorcycles doesn\u2019t mean that loud noise isn\u2019t potentially damaging.<\/p>\n<p>If the sound is too loud to talk over, then it can damage your hearing. Remember to wear your hearing protection at all times when exposed to loud noise.<\/p>\n<p>Earplugs from the drugstore can be effective if used properly. Earmuffs are often more comfortable but they can be bulky. Custom made earplugs are a great choice but they are often more expensive than other options.
