I was just reading that fireworks are as loud as 140 decibels.  That causes immediate hearing loss!  If you are watching your local fireworks display, it is extremely unlikely that you will be close enough to any fireworks to cause hearing trouble.  However, if you buy fireworks at your local store and are setting them off yourself, beware.
