You may be surprised to learn that keeping a healthy mouth can also preserve your hearing. Your mouth is full of bacteria – some good, some bad. When you get an infection in your mouth, it can enter your bloodstream and end up in your ears and brain. The inflammation can cause narrowing of the blood vessels in any part of your body. If that happens near your ears, the blood supply to the delicate inner ear structure can be compromised causing hearing loss. Brush your teeth twice a day, floss every day and see your dentist every six months. See your audiologist if you notice hearing loss.
