Hearing aid batteries con- tain a small amount of mer- cury and other metals and they cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. How- ever, there are quite a few places that offer battery re- cycling so proper disposal need not be a burden.
John Muir Outpatient Center at Tice Valley. For our patients who visit our Walnut Creek office, bring your stash of old batteries to the volunteer station where they will gladly recycle them for you.
All Radio Shack stores accept batteries for recycling. Here is a list of stores in the area:

Some patients have told me that their Walgreens store accepts old batteries but I haven’t been able to verify if they all do.
If all else fails, bring your used batteries in to us at your next appointment and we’ll recycle them for you.
