- Eliminate auditory deprivation. Research shows that if you aren’t using your auditory pathways they become less robust and that can affect your ability to understand speech.
- You’ll be younger! I can teach people in their 90’s to change batteries and put hearing aids in their ears but it’s a lot easier to learn those tasks at a younger age.
- Give your brain some exercise. Mental exercise helps stave off dementia and there is much new research linking hearing loss and dementia.
- Stay active socially. Many people have started dropping out of classes, groups or other social events because they can’t hear well enough to participate. Come get hearing aids when the problems begin and you won’t have to limit yourself.
- Mild hearing loss is easy to treat. Hearing aids can give you the boost you need to handle most situations. As hearing loss gets more severe, hearing aids may have more limited benefit.
